Mmmmm, strawberry milk sausages. Because their fish-meat sausages aren’t selling as well lately, a company called Nissui decided to add a strawberry milk flavor to them for a hot new product. In the Mainichi article, an executive from the company said what I’ve been telling friends for years: “Strawberries go well with minced fish.”

You’d think they’d find something a little less incongruous… Glico hasn’t seemd to run out of any number of yummy variations on a theme…
Pocky, Pretz & Pretenders
That’s… wack.
Well, it is sounds yaki, but according to the kids (preschoolers in Japan) who taste tasted it said “It’s Yammy.” I guess, kids do eat anything if they don’t know what is made it from.
It reminds me of the tuna salad sandwich I bit into and spat out in Tokyo many years ago. It turned out to be a roast beef and tuna salad sandwich.
Great story. Great blog. I have linked and credited you in my blog at CMO Magazine.
its just not normal
this is the grossest thing i have heard of food wise
i would have a hard time eating sausage that tastes like anything, BUT SAUSAGE!!!!!!!!!!
Hey hey, you made it onto Boing Boing! Is it odd that I think that’s something people should be congratulated on?
nice
No, man. Thanks! (hug)
I wish you were here to celebrate. Lots of yummy drinky drink in Tokyo. No pigface, but the Meat Beat show fucking ruled.
You gotta come play. Fergus will be OK.
Oh Just Great! Now the Strawberry & Cream Monkfish will go on the endangered species list and ruin it for the rest of us!
Strawberries will go well with minced fish. Of course!
Not the grossest thing. I ate raw horse meat (basashi) in Japan, that was worse than I can imagine strawberry fish sausages being.
I’m a fan of most things strawberry-flavored, but doubt I’d try strawberry milk sausages. Bleagh.
from the land of sausages [Wisconsin]we would try anything within reason with sausage. Come ,come this is even too much for us.
Its funny they would go to the trouble of flavoring sausages. You think they would be flavoring soy products, possibly even sushi. Although to be honest, as repulsive as Nestle’s Strawberry Quik flavored sausages sounds, I bet if they started making tofu in citrus flavors people might jump off their roofs. lol Hey, people have strange tastes!
Um, yeeeaaaa, OK…
