I hear you.
I don't fault anyone for having a mobile phone ... just am a little burned out on seeing everyone walking around talking endlessly on phones. Listening to them repeat "Hello? Are you there?" nonstop on Metro. Seeing that crap drivers are, in fact, in the middle of phone conversations.
They are the ultimatge answer to pay-phone prices, however, and do come in handy when coordinating last-minute things between multiple parties.
I just miss the day when seeing someone talking to him/herself on a street corner meant you were approaching an insane person.

I held out getting a mobile phone for the longest times. The thought that anyone could reach me at anytime gave me the heebie jeebies. Finally 3 years ago, my supervisor forced me to get one for work.

I don't know how I managed without one for so long. Payphones are disappearing and it costs $.50 - $.75 to place a call (remember the good ol' days when all you needed was a dime?). And now the few friends I have without a phone just piss me off. LOL!

I ususally keep my phone off. The rings annoy me and I follow cell-phone etiquette... I go outside or into the lobby if I need to speak with someone. I rarely walk and talk. Unfortunately too many others have no concept of when is and isn't an appropriate time to speak on the phone (like answering the phone while going to the bathroom - eeeeeeeeeeeewwwwww!).... not an urban myth - a woman answered her phone while in the restroom of the Georgetown Loew's Theatre. That's just bad hygiene and poor manners.
