I have returned from Tokyo.

Sorry for not posting while I was there, but I couldn’t upload photos to the computers in the newsroom and I didn’t feel like spending lots of spare time in the office writing entries. The stories will come, however, once my brain is functioning a bit more efficiently. I think the Stepford flight attendants on the ride back infected me with something.

Until then, all I have to say - and I can’t stress this enough - is that Gloomy the naughty adult bear fucking rules. He’s a little pink bear who once in a while feels the need to rip people to shreds. I first saw him at Kiddy Land, and he tore his way into my heart. He’s of course very popular with the little goth kids of Harajuku.

I can relate to Gloomy’s name as I try to re-emerge in D.C. After almost a month in sunny Tokyo and two days in the mountains decompressing after my return, I have no desire whatsoever to be in this city. Especially as I look at the gray sky (a nonstop, monthlong presence, I hear) and remember there’s an evil Redneck Across Town. Argh.

As usual, however, kick-ass shows will come to the rescue. Well, not all are kick, but they definitely promise to be high-haired fun. And I finally get to see the new “Matrix.”
